Undara Experience
In the Gulf Savannah country visitors can see Undara. This is an ancient place. The Undara Lava Tubes are remnants of Australia’s pre-history. Tourists can walk on the path of an extinct volcano. Undara is where one of Australia’s natural wonders can be explored. Undara can be reached with a coach transfer, train ride, drive or short flight from Cairns. Undara is on the eastern edge of the Gulf Savannah region in the northern part of Queensland. A great way to see the Australian Outback is to be part of the Undara Experience. With the Undara Experience visitors of Australia can go to the Undara Lava Tubes. During the microbat breeding season tourists can see the microbats and night tigers.
There are accommodation options that tourists can choose. People can stay in restored railway carriages in the Queensland bush. Visitors can also go camping. Camping has several options from different sites and types of tents used. Included in the Undara Experience is a wildlife walk; campfire evenings; dining using the local produce, or having drinks in the bar while watching the outback sunset.
Savannah Guides take visitors on tours. These tours give an insight into the features of the Undara Volcanic National Park and the bushcraft of the region. Tourists may also be able to enjoy the annual Opera in the Outback and the Outback Country Rock and Blues festival.
